Video to GIF, and GIF to video
Make a GIF from a video, or turn a GIF into a video. Nothing is uploaded.
About this tool
Turn a short moment of a video into an animated GIF, or turn a GIF into an MP4 video. For a GIF you choose the start and end, the width and how smooth it should be, and a smaller width or fewer pictures per second gives a lighter file. Turning a GIF into a video often makes it smaller and lets it play on more devices. Everything happens on your own device, so nothing is uploaded, and there is no account to create.
How to use it
- Choose a video to make a GIF, or a GIF to make a video.
- For a GIF, set the start and end, the width and how smooth it should be. For a video, choose how many times it plays.
- Press Make GIF or Make video.
- Download the result.
Common questions
Why is my GIF so big?
A GIF stores every picture on its own with at most 256 colours. Lower the width first, then the pictures per second, then shorten the clip.
Can I add sound to a GIF?
No. GIFs have no sound. To keep the sound, save a short video instead.
Good to know
- Choose a video to make a GIF from a short moment of it, or choose a GIF to save it as a video.
- GIFs get big quickly. A smaller width or fewer pictures per second makes a lighter file, and a GIF can be up to 15 seconds here.
- A GIF has at most 256 colours, so photos look a little rougher than in the video.
- Turning a GIF into an MP4 often makes it smaller, and it plays almost everywhere.
